Woman held for wearing “Respect My Vote” T-shirt

A woman was temporarily held in custody after she wore a T-shirt bearing the slogan “Respect My Vote”  at a religious ceremony held at Wat Pathumwanaram on Sunday.

The woman, Ms Ussanee Sethsunthri was among some 20 people who showed up at the temple to join a religious rite staged by Mr Thanavuth Vichaidit, a spokesman of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship to mourn the people killed in political violence.

She was later taken to Pathumwan police station where she was given a lecture before she was released.

After the event was over, police asked for the ID cards of the participants for a check and photographed each one of them.  All dispersed shortly afterward.
