The Na Thawi Court in Songkhla province has approved warrants for the arrests of five suspects in the robbery of six pick-up trucks from a used car dealer in Na Thawi district and another pick-up truck in a separate robbery in Pattani on Aug 16.
The five suspects are Bukhori Lamso, Rosari Lamso, Sulaiman Samo, Sarisanhamri Duramae and Asnan Sa-i.
Deputy police chief Srivara Ransibrahmanakul said that four of the five suspects are on record as having conducted several violent incidents. From a police investigation, it is believed there are more than seven suspects in this case, he added.
Pol Gen Srivara and his entourage on Monday (Aug 21) went down to Na Thawi district in Songkhla province to follow up the investigation into the case.
All seven pick-up trucks, which were stolen in the two robberies on Aug 16, have been retaken and kept at Nathawi police station.
After a meeting with investigators and Pol Lt Gen Sakhon Thongmanee, the Provincial Police Region 9 commissioner, Pol Gen Srivara said there is solid evidence against the five suspects from forensic examination, especially the DNA collected from the stolen vehicles, and eyewitnesses.
He believed the other suspects were hiding in four districts of Songkhla adjoining Pattani province.
Pol Gen Srivara also paid a visit to Thaneesak Yeejin, the owner of used car dealer Wang To Car Centre which was robbed on Aug 16, who has been provided with police protection.
