Two pre-cadet school military officers transferred pending probe into student’s death

The Supreme Command has ordered the transfer of two military officers of the Armed Forces Academies Preparatory School and ordered a new probe into the death of Pakapong Tanyakan, a first-year cadet of the school.

Supreme Commander Gen Thanchaiyan Srisuwan has signed an order removing Col Chatchai Duangrat, commander of the armed forces cadet regiment, and Cdr Noppasit Pienchob, commander of the armed forces cadet battalion 2, out of the school.

Col Chatchai was transferred to the Royal Thai Armed Forces, while Cdr Noppasit was transferred to the Royal Thai Marine Corps.

The two are replaced by Col Benjaphon Dechartwong, deputy commander of  the 21st infantry regiment, and Cdr Prasertsin Worasin respectively.

The transfer of the two men was intended to pave the way for a new probe to find out the actual cause of the cadet’s death and the circumstances surrounding his death as well as the victim’s health condition.

The first probe by the school insisted that Pakapong,18, died of sudden heart failure on Oct 17.
