CCTV system has captured the images of two suspects in Jan 22 bomb attack in Yala’s municipal area, but police still are unable to identify them because they wore full-face crash helmets to cover up their faces.
The first man was spotted by surveillance cameras scouting the market and the second man was seen riding a motorcycle rigged with explosives into Phimolchai Market in Yala’s municipal area.
Yala police, however, said they would send the images of the two suspects to the Scientific and Crime Detection Division to be enhanced with the hope that it could help police to figure out the identities of the suspects.
Police said they believed the perpetrators of this latest bomb attack are still hiding in Yarang district of Pattani.
On Tuesday (Jan 23), students from different educational institutes in Yala marched to the site of the motorcycle bombing to lay roses and to observe a brief silence for the dead victims in a symbolic show of opposition to violence.
Three people were killed and 18 injured by the explosion believed detonated by a timer.
The dead victims are Ms Nareerat sae Tang, a 39-year-old pork vendor, who left behind an 8-year old daughter; Mr Mayakee Waenawae, a resident of Pattani’s Nong Chik district; and Mrs Supreeda Jennarumit, a 57-year-old vendor at the market.
On behalf of HM King Maha Vajiralongkorn, Yala governor Anuchit Trakulmuthuta presented gift baskets to families of the three dead victims. The dead victim’s family also received 500,000-baht financial aid from the state.
