Thai women’s badminton team grabbed the gold medal for the third time in a row, beating host Malaysia 3-1 at the 29th SEA Games held in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.
The Thai team was led by Busanan “Cream” Oengbamrungphan, Sapsiri Taerattanachai and Puchita Supchirakul.
Busanan beat Malaysia 2-0 sets in the single category while Sapsiri and Puchita won over Malaysia 2-1 sets in the double category. Hence, the Thai’s A team led 2 matches against Malaysia’s 0.
For the B team, Nitcha-on Chindapol lost 1-2 sets to Malaysia in the single category but in the double category, Chongkolpan Kittithrakul and Rawinda Prajongjai teamed up to beat Malaysia 2-1 sets, resulting in the Thai women’s badminton team to defeat Malaysia 3-1 matches to grab the gold medal.
