After an upset win over champions Brazil on Saturday night, the Thai spikers were defeated by the Serbian volleyball team in Sendai, Japan, Sunday night.
Ranked first in the 12-team Group 1 and third in the world, the Serbs have proven too strong for the Thai spikers, overcoming a good fight from the Thais in the second set to win thepa match 3-1 (25-17, 23-25, 25-16 and 25-19).
The Thai team ended the games in 4th place of Group D1 with 3 points while Serbia ranked first with 6 points, followed by Japan’s 5 points and Brazil’s 4 points.
Atcharaporn Kongyot led her teammates in scores with 13 points while Pluemjit Thinkaow came second best with 11 points.
Both the Thai and Serbian teams wrapped up their meetings in Japan as the games will move to Bangkok on Friday with Thailand in Pool H1 of Group 1 with Italy, Turkey and Dominican Republic.
The Thai team will play the Dominicans at Hua Mark Indoor Stadium on Friday, Turkey on Saturday and Italy on Sunday.
