Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha yesterday sent a note to Mr Emmanuel Macron to congratulate him on his victory in the French election.
In the congratulatory message, Gen Prayut said he wished to extend his warmest congratulations to Macron on being elected as the president of France.
“Your substantial victory and progressive direction are reflective of how the French people have placed their confidence in you to lead the country forward,” the prime minister said.
For 161 years, the Kingdom of Thailand and the French Republic have enjoyed close and friendly relations. Our long-standing ties have evolved into a “Strategic Partnership” based on common interests in a number of important areas, Gen Prayut said.
In the message, Gen Prayut said he was confident that the relations between Thailand and France would be stronger under Macron’s leadership.
“I look forward to working closely with you to reinforce our mutual beneficial ties for the prosperity of our two countries and people’s,” he said.
