Prachuap Khiri Khan police yesterday (Nov 30) escorted one of the five suspects to re-enact the murder of a family of four at a rubber plantation in Bang Saphan Noi district of Prachuap Khiri Khan.
The suspect identified only as Daeng, an ethnic Mon worker at the plantation, was arrested two days ago and was charged for murder.
Police said he and four other Mon workers killed a colleague, Nampol Kamkong, and three of his family members included his wife, 5-year-old daughter and his father, after having engaged in heated quarrel over unpaid debt while they were having a drink party at Nampol’s home on Nov 26.
The other four suspects were identified only as Son, Zu, Ouu and Arlon.
Daeng told police that Arlon was angry at Nampol after the latter told Arlon to repay him 1,000 baht debt. A fist fight broke out and Nampol ran into his home.
Arlon allegedly chased the victim into the home and killed him with a machete. His wife was also killed when she tried to help her husband.
The couple’s daughter and Nampol’s father then ran out of the house. The five men chased after them and allegedly killed the two.
Police said another suspect, Son, has asked his Thai relative to approach the police to turn himself in to police yesterday (Nov 30).
He denied any involvement in the murder of the family. Police said they have collected evidence at the scene for proof if the suspect was involved.
Three other suspects are still at large.
