Southern bombings damage 52 electric supply power poles

The Forward Command of the Internal Security Operation Command Region 4 says the bombings and burnings in four southern provinces by southern insurgents have left 52 power supply and telecommunication poles damaged.

However there were no injuries to lives.

The command spokesman Col Pramoj Phrom-in said the insurgents launched sabotage attacks on 19 districts in four southern provinces of Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat and Songkhla provinces last night and early Friday.

The insurgents bombed power supply poles, burned electric transformers, burned car tyres, and created other unrest incidents. But no attacks on government based were made, he said.

The bombings on power and telecom poles on Highway 410 downed Internet and telephone services and blacked out electricity in vast areas in Banang Satar and Betong.

He said a total of 52 power poles were damaged. They are 18 in Pattani, 8 in Yala, 20 in Narathiwat, and 6 in Songkhla.
