Sek freed on 150,000 baht bail by court despite police protest

The Nakhon Si Thammarat provincial court on Wednesday (Jan 3) ordered the release of rocker Sek Loso or Seksan Sukphimai on 150,000 baht bail despite opposition from Phrom Khiri police.

After his release, Sek offered an apology to the people in Nakhon Si Thammarat for not being a good model for youngsters over his shooting during a concert at a temple in the province on the night of Dec 29.

Accompanied by his lawyer, the controversial rock star immediately left the province for his home in Bangkok.

Meanwhile, Khan Na Yao police have issued a summons for Sek to report to the Khan Na Yao police station next week to acknowledge the charge of drug abuse after his urine was tested positive for use of methamphetamine.

Pol Col Singh Singthong, superintendent of Khan Na Yao police, said Sek had denied using methamphetamine, claiming that his urine was tested positive because of his sleeping pills. However, the Police General Hospital has confirmed the test result.

He said, about six years ago, Sek was tested positive for drug abuse and, for that matter, he committed similar offence twice and would face the charge of drug abuse and was not eligible to drug rehabilitation.

Police will investigate how Sek got hold of the illicit drug, he added.
