The organizer of Samed In Love music festival scheduled on June 3 has decided to cancel the event and to refund those who have already bought tickets.
The decision came after the chief of Khao Laem Ya-Samed Island national park banned the event on Samed island.
Mr Yarnkorn Apiratmongkol, managing director of Create Intelligence, the organizer, claimed that the annual event generated about 60 million baht in revenue for the island and Rayong province.
He said if the event would cause negative impacts to the island, the local people would have already raised their objection. He added that the company planned to collect garbage on the island after the event.
Mr Yarnkorn insisted that his company intended to help promote tourism in Rayong, citing the fact that the company had organized seven music festivals on the island in the past.
Those who want to get the refund for their tickets can get into the company’s website to make registration during May 18-31 and, after that, the company return their money in full in June.
