Narumon Chueysombat, the girlfriend of Ronnachai Panchart who is alleged to have shot to death his bride-to-be Nontiya Krowjatturat, a dental assistant at Tambon Salui Hospital in Chumphon’s Tha Sae district, has been charged with conspiracy in the murder, police said.
Nontiya, 25, was found dead with gun shot wound to her chest inside the hospital’s staff accommodation on Dec 19.
Pol Maj Gen Sonthichai Arwattanakulthep, the Chumphon police chief, said Ms Narumon told police investigators that in November she bought a gun for Mr Ronnachai to protect himself since he said he had been under threats. She said Mr Ronnachai gave her 7,000 baht to buy the gun.
Ms Narumon said on the night of Dec 18 Mr Ronnachai asked her to drive him to Nontiya’s room, saying that he wanted to clear problems with Nontiya. She said when Mr Ronnachai came back, he told her that he had shot Nontiya to death.
Ms Narumon has been charged with conspiracy to the murder, Pol Maj Gen Sonthichai.
On Friday (Dec 22), police brought Mr Ronnachai to the provincial court to seek approval to continue to detain him for a further investigation. Mr Ronnachai has been charged with intentional murder, illegally carrying a gun in public, trespassing on an official location, and theft.
The police have found the gun and a wool hat used by Mr Ronnachai near a canal, about 10 kilometres from the site of the killing.
As for a claim by Nontiya’s family that the dowry for the wedding of Mr Ronnachai and Nontiya had disappeared, Pol Maj Gen Sonthichai said police were investigating this matter.
