Rohingyas went missing

About 200 Rohingya migrants who landed on the beach in Thung Wa district of Satun province Wednesday have mysteriously disappeared.

Villagers told authorities that they saw four pickup trucks arrive at a temporary settlement at Rawai park in Tambon Khon Klarn where the Rohingyas were sheltered last night.   Then all the migrants were herded on board the trucks and sped away.

The villagers suspected that the migrants might have been taken away by a human smuggling gang.

However, Satun governor Nuachaki Jira-apirak said that the pick-up trucks seen by the villagers belong to a governmental agency which he didn’t know.  He also said that where the migrants were taken away was confidential and could not be disclosed.
