Red Bull heir arrest delayed

Thong Lor police station deputy superintendent said police investigators could not yet seek court’s warrant for the arrest of Red Bull heir Worayuth Yoovidhya as they have to abide by the arrest procedure that needs to summon the suspect twice to hear charges  first.

The officer Pol  Lt-Col Viradol Thabtimdee’s comment came after the special attorney Rucha Krairirk of the Bangkok South Criminal Court said he has already sent a letter to the police to arrest the Red Bull heir after he failed to show up for five times to hear charges against him. Avoiding to report to the attorney  indicated that he had the intention to escape, Rucha said and added that failures to show up for five time in the past one year has resulted in the one-year prescriptive period to bring speeding charge against him was void.

Now only two charges could be pressed against him , reckless driving then resulted  in the death of others and failing to provide first aid to victim, and damaging government property.

Pol Lt-Col Viradol explained that he was awaiting notification from the chief attorney general of the Bangkok South Criminal Court before any action could be proceeded.

He said that if he received such notification, then  it needed to issue a warrant to summon the suspect to hear the charge. If he fails to show up a second warrant will be issued. After the second summon failed again,  then the arrest warrant could be sought from the court to make arrest, he said.
