After claiming her first Super Series title at Denmark Open in 18 months last week, Thai badminton star Ratchanok Intanon’s world ranking has moved up to 6th from 9th in women’s singles.

The new badminton world ranking was announced this week by the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

As for other Thai women’s singles, Pornpawee Chochuwong’s ranking was also moved up to 25th.  Now four Thai women’s singles are in the top 25.  The two others are Bussanan Ungbamrungphan, who is ranked 15th, and Nicha-orn Chindapol, 16th.

At the French Open in France, Ratchanok entered the third round after beating Bussanan 2-0.  She meets tough opponent Tai Tzu-ying in the third round tonight (Oct 27) after upsetting the Taiwanese world No. 1 in the semi-finals in Odense, Denmark, on Saturday (Oct 21).

The two had previously met 15 times in which Ratchanok won 8 and lost 7.
