Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has confirmed he has finished with a new list of cabinet – with Gen Prawit Wongsuwon, Gen Anupong Paojinda and Gen Chatchai Sarikulya remaining intact
The new cabinet is expected to be in place in December, said Gen Prayut said on today (Nov 17) at Government House after a meeting of the Special Economic Development Zone Policy Committee.
Speaking to a throng of reporters, the prime minister said he finished with the new cabinet line-up today.
However, there are still many steps and procedures to be taken and the new cabinet is expected to be announced next month, he said. “I have done my best,” he said.
Gen Prayut denied as untrue a report that he would concurrent hold the defence minister post in the new line-up, saying he is already in charge of all ministries.
He also dismissed a report that Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda, the national police chief, would take the post of social development and human security minister, replacing Pol Gen Adul Sangsingkeo.
He said Gen Prawit, the deputy prime minister and defence minister, and Gen Anupong, the interior minister, would still remain in the new cabinet.
Gen Chatchai, who is currently the agriculture and cooperatives minister, will also stay, Gen Prayut said, but refused to say in what portfolio.
The prime minister also declined to reveal how many new faces will be in the “Prayut 5” cabinet.
