PM expresses condolence to families of dead and injured officers

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha expressed condolence to families of policemen and soldier killed and injured by roadside bomb explosions in Yaha and Kabang districts of Yala province on Thursday (Sept 14).

Two officers were killed and 27 injured in the bomb attacks. The dead officers were identified as Lance Corporal Thanet Puttho, a 29-year old paramilitary ranger, and Pol Sgt-Maj Aniroot Chanthawong, an explosive ordnance disposal officer.

The prime minister has ordered relevant agencies to help relatives of the dead and injured officers.  He also instructed security forces to try to catch the perpetrators and to beef up security measures for public safety in the restive region.

Noting that the perpetrators intended to stir up the situation in the Deep South, he appealed to people in the three southernmost provinces of Yala, Narathiwat, and Pattani not to panic and to carry with their lives as normal and to cooperate with authorities by providing information about the southern militants.
