Petchaburi prison chief axed following jailbreak of two inmates

The chief of Petchaburi provincial prison was ordered transferred with immediate effect today (Monday) following the jailbreak of two inmates who are still at large.

Corrections Department director-general Pol Col Narat Sawetanan said Ms Busaba Kate-udom, the commander of Petchaburi provincial prison, was transferred to become an inspector-general of the department.

Ms Busaba’s removal came two days after two inmates convicted of drug trafficking and theft escaped from the prison and, so far, they have not been recaptured.

Pending the appointment of the new prison chief, Mr Somsak Kiatdanusorn, an inspector-general, was assigned to serve as the acting chief.

Pol Col Narat said that he was confident the two escapees would be re-arrested soon as the police have launched a manhunt for both of them.
