Paramotorist escapes unhurt in air crash in Chumphon

A paramotorist escaped unhurt when his flying machine stopped functioning and crash-landed on top of an oil palm tree during an air show on National Children’s Day in Lang Suan district of Chumporn today (๋Jan 13).

Rescue workers from Lang Suan municipal rushed to the scene in Tambon Hat Yai with a cable car to pluck the flyer, Mr Sathaporn Rakbamrung, from the tree top about ten metres above ground to safety.

Mr Sathaporn later told the media that he and two other para-motorists were performing in an air show to entertain children when, out of a sudden, the engine of his flying machine stopped working and fell from the sky.

Fortunately, he said the ground below was an oil palm plantation and his machine crash-landed on the top of a palm tree and he narrowly escaped death, but his para-motor was heavily damage.

Paramotorist Sathaporn Rakbamrung smiles with relief after he was brought down from the top of an oil palm tree.
