Security officials in Yala province have arrested one of the suspects in the bomb explosions that killed two government authorities and injured 27 other people on Sept 14, Col Pramote Prom-in, the International Security Operations Command (Isoc) Region 4 spokesman, said on Saturday(Sept 16).
Col Pramote said the suspect was arrested on Sept 14, but did not reveal his identity. He said only that the suspect had been detained at a military camp for questioning to get information which hopefully would lead to the arrests of more suspects.
In a related development, security units in Yala have received a warning from an intelligence agency that a pick-up truck has been fitted with a bomb, ready for a violent attack in one of the southern border provinces.
Check points have been set up to check all vehicles entering Yala town and nearby districts, looking for the suspected truck.
Security sources said it is believed the truck, fitted with a bomb, has been hidden in an area outside the town, waiting for the time for an attack.
