One BRN member among six arrested in Malaysia with explosives

One of the six suspected militants arrested by Malaysian police in Kelantan state with bomb-making materials is linked to the Barisan Revolusi Nasional (BRN) separatist group in three southernmost provinces of Thailand, Army Commander-in-Chief General Chalermchai Sitthisart said on Wednesday.

He, however, said that details about the six are sketchy and it was unknown whether the group had any links with the Islamic State or not. He added that there are several levels of connection with the IS.

The army chief noted that, at this stage, he could not say for sure whether Malaysia would hand over one of the six arrested suspects with links to the BRN to the Thai side or not.
