Olympic gold medalist Somrak reports to DSI

1996 Olympic gold medal boxing champion Somrak Khamsing reported to the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) this morning for his involvement in the so-called World Peace University’s activities.

Somrak reported to the DSI as a witness for being one of the  recipients  of honorary degrees from the university’s second branch in Lat Prao.

He told DSI investigation chief Pol Lt-Col Sakapol Sukparn that he was invited to receive the honorary degree from the rector Mr Supanat Donchan in February this year without having to pay any expenses.

But Somrak said he never utsed the degree for any other purposes aside from keeping it at  home.

He said several leading social and political figures were also among the recipients on that day.

Pol Lt-Col Sakapol said that he would gather all evidences on the establishment of  the university’s second branch to the Office of the Attorney General for prosecution soon.

He added that the second university did not obtain any official license but still use the name of the university which is against the law.
