Metropolitan police checked several entertainment venues in Makkasan area on Friday night (Dec 29) to make sure that they strictly abide by safety regulations and operate under the laws.
Checked by team of metropolitan and Makkasan police under the command of the Metropolitan Police Bureau deputy commissioner Pol Gen Panurat Lakboon included Onyx RCA discotheque on Rama 9 road.
The check on entertainment venue was aimed at seeking cooperation from all business operators to comply with all safety measures.
The safety measures include requirement for business operators to tell their customers not to play any fireworks which could risk triggering fire, as well as having proper and immediate evacuation plan in case of fire.
The evacuation of all occupants out of the fire scene must be made within 12 minutes.
The deputy commissioner said that during the New Year festival season, some entertainment venues or their customers might play firework although there is a law prohibiting playing firework.
The check was to make sure they will cooperate, he said and added defiance of the law will be drastically dealt with by laws.
He also sought cooperation from visitors as well as tourists to refrain from playing firework or lighting rocket fireworks as it could cause fires.
