NCPO announces cases to be tried by Military Court

The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) issued an order making three categories of criminal offences are to be tried by the Military Court.

They are:  offences regarding the Monarchy, the Royal Family and the Regent in accordance with Sections 107-112 of the Criminal Code; offences against the national security in accordance with Sections 113-118 of the Criminal Code with the exception of the offences occurred in areas placed under the Internal Security Act or the Emergency Decree; and offences as announced by NCPO.

Order No 37 of the NCPO will remain effective until there are further changes.

Meanwhile, Colonel Winthai Suvaree, deputy spokesman of NCPO, said Sunday that NCPO would coordinate with the Foreign Ministry to take legal action against Robert Amsterdam, legal advisor of fugitive former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, for reportedly claiming that a government in exile would be set up.

Colonel Winthai said that Mr Amsterdam had committed activities deemed to be jeopardizing national security but added that it was rather difficult to approach him.
