NACC sets January 27 as deadline for speakers to hear charges

The National Anti-Corruption Committee (NACC) has set January 27 as the deadline for former speakers of the Senate and the House of Representatives to acknowledge malfeasance in office and abuse of power charges over their roles in an amendment to the Constitution with regard to the composition of the Senate.

The decision to summon both former speakers was decided after both of them did not report to the NACC to acknowledge the charges citing of having election campaign in the provinces and other personal matters.

Besides, the NACC will also summon a total of 308 former senators and MPs to acknowledge charges on January 15-17 also in approving the amendment regarding the composition of the Senate..
