NACC investigates two ministers on shareholding

The National Anti Corruption Commission (NACC) held a meeting today to examine the shareholding of two cabinet ministers of the Yingluck Government after its inspection team found both owned shares in companies over the permitted 5% of registered capital and did not report the holding to the NACC.

The two ministers under probe are Mr Wichet Kasemthongsri, the minister of Natural Resources and Environment , and Mr Sorawong Thienthong, the deputy minister of Public Health.

They were alleged by the NACC inspection officials of failing to report their excess holdings to the NACC within the deadline stipulated under the partnership and shareholding law 2000  after assuming the minister posts..

If finding by the NACC board revealed that the allegations were unfounded, the probe would be halted. But on the contrary if investigation confirmed the excess shareholding, full investigation report would be forwarded to the Election Commission to consider their minister status immediately.
