Militants launch multiple attacks in three southern provinces

Suspected southern militants launched grenade and gun attacks on 13 targets in three southernmost provinces of Pattani, Narathiwat and Songkhla Wednesday night.

Officials said that these were the first coordinated attacks after the end of the Songkran festival. The attacks occurred at about 7 pm.

In Narathiwat, suspected militants launched grenade and gun attacks at a defence volunteer outpost in Yee Ngor district. There was no report of casualties.

Outposts and bases in Si Sakorn, Ruesor, Ra-ngae, Waeng and Tak Bai also came under shooting and grenade attacks.

In Pattani, two hand grenades were lobbed into a police’s lodging in Kapor district.

In Songkhla, suspected militants attacked Jana police station, a checkpoint in Tepa district and an outpost in Sabayoi district.
