ISOC looking for poster of Facebook threat against 4th Army chief

The Internal Security Operation Command Region 4 will investigate to find out who posted a Facebook message offering one million baht for whoever can take the life of Lt Gen Piyawat Nakwanich, the 4th Army commander.

Col Yutthanam Phetmuang, the Isoc Region 4 spokesman, said a picture of Lt Gen Piyawat and a message read, “1,000,000 baht for his head,” were posted on the Facebook page of a user in the name of “Suding Su Patani” late on Wednesday night.

The spokesman said the authorities will investigate to find out who posted the threatening message and for what purpose.

He warned that Facebook readers should not share or forward the message because doing so could violate the Computer Act.

Lt Gen Piyawat, meanwhile, shrugged off the threat, saying that this showed that those in the insurgency movement might have been in disarray and resorted to post this type of message.

Thai PBS reporter checked out Facebook page of “Suding Su Patani” and sent a message to him via Facebook messenger application, but there was no reply.
