A fire broke out at a huge electronic component factory in the Lamphun Industrial Estate in Lamphun province, injuring three people.
The fire happened at about 9.30am today (Saturday) at Schaffner EMC Co Ltd located inside the industrial estate and at noon was still raging although over 30 fire trucks from Lamphun and Chiang Mai would join in to combat the fire.
As the fire raged the entire factory building sporadic explosions were also heard.
Two firemen and a factory employee were reported to suffer injuries from broken glasses during the sporadic explosion caused from chemicals stored inside the building.
The fire was kept under control two hours later but firemen continued to spray water to keep the fire from spreading again.
It was initially believed that the fire started first from the room where chemical substances were stored.
The factory produced consumer electronic components, auto parts and accessories, etc.
