HM King will preside over the ceremony to lift the Nine-tiered Umbrella

His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun will preside over the ceremony to lift the Nopphapadon Maha Sawetta Chat or Nine-tiered Great White Umbrella of State on top of the Phra Merumas or the Royal Crematorium on Wednesday October 18 at between 7.21 pm-9.30 pm.


Deputy Prime Minister Thanasak Patimaprakorn, in his capacity as chairman of the committee for the construction of the Royal Crematorium and surrounding structures as well as renovation of the vehicles to be used in the cremation ceremonies, on Thursday inspected the ceremonial ground at Sanam Luang and the readiness of all the equipment and manpower responsible for the lifting of the Nopphapadon Maha Sawetta Chat on top of the Royal Crematorium to make sure that everything will proceed smoothly.

The nine-tiered umbrella stands 5.10 metres tall and 1.20 metres wide. It is reserved for kings who were officially installed in a Coronation Ceremony.
