Heavy rains warned in 18 provinces

The Meteorological Department today warned 18 provinces in the North, Northeast, East and South of heavy rains during August 27-28 as flashflood could be expected.

It said the rains were expected from the monsoon trough which is blowing across the North and Northeast, while the south westerly monsoon still prevails in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand.

The blowing and prevailing monsoons will result in scattered showers in almost all parts of the country or 60% of areas, with high chance of heavy rains in dome areas in the North, Northeast, East and the Southern West Coast.

It cautions people in  Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Loei, Udon Thani, Khon Kaen, Sakhon Nakhon, Yasothorn, Nong Khai, Bung Kaen, Amnart Charoen, Si Sa Ket, Ubon Ratchathani, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi and Trang to be aware of danger to be caused by the heavy rains, as well as accumulated rainwater on high lands.
