Government to resort to outsourcing to do jobs left vacant by retirements

Vacancies left vacant by retired officials will not be filled up by officials, but outsiders will be employed to do their jobs, according to a resolution of the cabinet on Tuesday.

This employment approach which will do away with replacements will affect low-level positions in government service such as officials in financial section, accountancy and procurement.

High-level positions which are left vacant by retirement of officials will, however, be replaced.

For academic positions such as analysts, financial experts and accountants, about 10 percent of vacancies of these positions will be filled up by employment of outsiders, but the rest will be replaced by officials.

This new employment approach will become effective as of October 1 next year.
