A morning fire engulfed a furniture factory building on Soi On-nut early Thursday morning causing damages estimated at over 10 million baht.
Phra Khanong police in Bangkok said the fire was reported at Kanok Furniture on Soi On-nut 46 at about 7.30am.
The factory houses three connected one-storey buildings in a 10-rais compound.
Fire trucks were alerted and rushed to the scene.
It took them an hour to put out the fire before spreading to all buildings in the compound.
The fire started at a building where materials used for making furniture were stored.
Damages were estimated at about 10 million baht.
The factory produced office furniture for local market and for export.
Sirapat Lertkangwalkrai, the factory owner, said the factory employs over 200 workers.
The fire started as the workers were working.
He said there was an explosion sound first at the switch board of the building where materials used for making furniture were stored.
Forensic police were inspecting the scene for actual cause while police initially believed electrical short circuit was the cause.
