France knocked Argentina out of World Cup with 4-3 win

Argentina was knocked out of the World Cup tonight after a 3-4 loss to France in the group of 16 match at  Kazan Arena in Kazan.

France took an early lead when Antoine Griezman scored a penalty in the 13th minute before  Angel Di María equalized for the Argentines in the 41st minute.

And it looked like things were going Argentina’s way when Gabriel Mercado put in the second goal only 7 minutes later by diverting Lionel Messi’s shot into the net.

But tides began to turn when Benjamin Pavard scored an equalizer with a superb volley for France in the 57th minute before forward Kylian Mbappé scored two successive goals in only four minutes apart in the 64th and 68th minutes.

Even though Sergio Agüero managed to score for Argentina in the 93rd minute of injury time it was too late for the Argentines to reverse its fortune.

Argentina’s forward Lionel Messi (L) controls the ball as he is marked by France’s midfielder Blaise Matuidi (C) and France’s midfielder N’Golo Kante (2nd-R) during the Russia 2018 World Cup round of 16 football match between France and Argentina at the Kazan Arena in Kazan on June 30, 2018.
