Former veteran MP Toon Chintavej dies of acute heart failure

Former Chart Thai Pattani MP Toon Chintavej, 70, for Ubon Ratchathani province, died Tuesday night of acute heart stroke.

The former political veteran was rushed to Sanpasit Prasong hospital at 10 pm last night after he complained of feeling dizzy and fainted.

Relatives immediately rushed the unconscious politician to hospital and was pronounced dead.

Toon was the only MP of the Chart Thai Pattana party who was elected in the Northeast in the general election in 2011. Almost all MP seats in the Northeastern provinces were swept by the PheuThai party.

He was first elected MP for Ubon Ratchathani in the 1983 general election under the banner of the defunct Social Action party.

He was elected MP several times since then until the last election in 2011 when he was the only candidate of Chart Thai Pattana to win the Pheu Thai candidate in Ubon Ratchathani.

The funeral service will be held at the party’s office in Ubon Ratchathani’s Dech-udom district.
