Finance to raise 100 billion baht fund to assist grass-root economies

The Ministry of Finance is preparing to raise 100 billion baht fund to finance the government’s national reform programs that will target grass-root economies.

This was disclosed by Finance Minister Apisak Tantivorawong after a cabinet meeting.

He said the ministry is preparing to propose the cabinet to consider a mid-year budget increase of 105 billion baht to help grass-root economies.

The 100 billion baht portion of this will come from loans while the remainder will come from state earnings.

He expected creditable loan sources would be completed by early February after which the funds will be used to finance national programs focusing on vital grass-root economics.

They include the 2nd phase of the government’s welfare program for the poor, subsidizing low rubber prices, agricultural reforms, compensations for rubber farmers in the planned 10-20% reduction in rubber plantations, community development programs.
