Deputy Prime Minister Tanasak Patimapragorn said on Monday (Nov 13) that the period for the people to view the Royal Crematorium of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej may be extended beyond Nov 30 if the people continue to visit the site in a large number.
Gen Tanasak said more than 600,000 people have visited the Royal Crematorium at Sanam Luang during the past 12 days. The numbers of visitors are 30,000-40,000 on an ordinary workday and more than 60,000 on Saturday and Sunday.
If the number of visitors continue to rise until Nov 15, a report will be made to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, who will be asked to consider seeking a royal permission from His Majesty the King to extend the exhibition further beyond Nov 30, he said.
Gen Tanasak said the situation has been normal and the people have followed instructions given by officials, who have attached importance on security and convenience.
