Electricity employee confesses to killing his bride-to-be 

A state enterprise employee in Chumphon province was arrested yesterday for allegedly shooting dead a woman who he was going to marry next week.

Ronnachai Panchart, an employee of the Provincial Electricity Authority in Lang Suan district, confessed to killing his bride-to-be Nontiya Krowjatturat after several hours of questioning over her death.

Nontiya, a 25-year-old dental official at Tambon Salui Hospital in Chumphon’s Tha Sae district, was found dead with gun shot wound to her chest inside the hospital’s staff accommodation on Dec 19.

Police investigation found the hooded murderer in a video footage of a surveillance camera walking around the hospital staff lodging for almost an hour on Monday night (Dec 18) before using a stick to push the camera out of sight.

Mr Ronnachai was later summoned for questioning. He initially denied any involvment, but later confessed when the police searched his room and found the hood and clothes similar to the man in the video footage.

Nontiya’s father said his daughter recently told him that she found out that Mr Ronnachai cheated on her as he had another girlfriend.

Police said they also obtained useful information from Mr Ronnachai’s girlfriend.

Mr Ronnachai was brought to reenact the crime at the scene today (Dec 20).
