Croatia created history last night by crushing England 2-1 to reach the World Cup final for the first time. England, meanwhile, had its dream of reaching its World Cup final for the first time since 1966 crushed in the thrilling match in Moscow.
The match was tied at 1-1 after Kieran Trippier gave England an early lead in the 5th minute with a perfect 20-yard free-kick but only to be equalized by Ivan Perisic in the 68th minute and had to go to extra time. And it was Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic who scored the winning goal for Croatia in the 109th minute.
Croatia, which made its first World Cup appearance in Paris in 1998, will face France in the final in Moscow on Sunday.
