The Criminal Court on Tuesday(Dec 26) sentenced seven youths to prison from 12 to 19 years after they were found guilty of murder conspiracy of a handicapped bread vendor on May 1 last year.
The incident happened on Soi Chokchai 4 in Ladprao area when the handicapped vendor Somkiat Srichan, 35, was assaulted by seven youths, one of them a girl, aged between 19-22 years old.
He was later beaten and stabbed to death by one youth.
They were later arrested and charged for deliberate killing, armed intrusion, and carrying weapon in public without reason.
At the hearing of the trial, the seven youths denied the charges.
But evidence produced by the state prosecutor, particularly video footage at the scene, showed clearly of their deliberate assaulting and killing of the vendor.
The court then handed down 12-19 years on the seven youths, plus a compensation of 360,000 baht compensation for the victim’s family who lost its benefactor and 140,000 baht as funeral expenditure.
