Court approves police request to detain woman in Ratchaprasong bombing case

The Bangkok Military Court on Thursday (Nov 23) approved a police request to detain Wanna “Maisaroh” Suansan for questioning in connection with the bombing at the Ratchaprasong intersection on Aug 17, 2015 in which 20 people were killed and 123 others injured.

Mrs Wanna, 29, was wanted under an arrest warrant issued by the Bangkok Military Court on Sept 25, 2015 on charges of involving in the fatal incident.

The woman became a suspect in the case because she and her Turkish husband allegedly arranged for a rented house in Min Buri for two Uighur bombing suspects Adem Karadag and Mieraili Yusufu.  The woman and her husband left for Turkey after the bombing incident.

Mrs Wanna, who was arrested at Suvarnabhumi airport on her return to Thailand on Nov 22, was brought to the court on Thursday morning by Lumpini police, who sought court approval detain her for the first 12-day period.

The Bangkok Military Court approved the police request to detain the woman during Nov 23-Dec 4. She is detained at the Central Correctional Institute for Women in Bangkok.

Her relatives and lawyer will on Friday (Nov 24) filed a bail request for her temporary release.  The minimum collateral for bail has been set for 600,000 baht.
