TAT aims to boost South Korean tourists to 1.5 million this year

The Tourism Authority of Thailand has aimed to increase the number of South Korean tourists visiting Thailand to more than 1.5 million this year.

TAT deputy governor for Asian and South Pacific Mrs Srisuda Wannapinyosak said she would join Deputy Prime Minister Somkid jatusripitak’s trade delegation to South Korea during March 22-25 to promote bilateral trade, tourism and investment between the two countries.

During the visit, she said that a memorandum of understanding would be signed between Korea Association of Travel Agents and the TAT to promote visits to Thailand of various groups of South Koreans.

After a year of declining visits due to contagious diseases in South Korea, Mrs Srisuda said tourism trend is pickup this year which saw more Koreans visiting Thailand.

On top of that, she disclosed that TAT looks forward to cooperating with Korea Tourism Organization to map out tourism promotion between the two countries and to exchange views on services development such as improvement of language skills of the guides of the two countries.

A movie project is afoot featuring Thai and Korean stars which will help promote tourism between the two countries.
