Four Korean tourists, driver die in road crash in Laos

Four Korean tourists and a Lao driver were killed and 24 injured after a bus and a minivan collided in Thongmeuad village, Kasy district, Vientiane province on Sunday, according to Vientiane Times.

The accident occurred at about 11am on Sunday. The minivan was heading from Vientiane to Luang Prabang while the bus was travelling in an opposite direction, from Luang Prabang to Vientiane.

The four Korean tourists and the driver in the van died at the scene. Two Korean passengers and the guide in the van sufferred critical injuries.

The driver of the bus with 19 Italian passengers and one Lao guide onboard were injured.

According to a report from the Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security, from Feb 8-14 there were over 100 road accidents across Laos.

Over 200 vehicles were damaged, over 200 people were injured and there were 20 fatalities.
