Consadole Sapporo wants to sign permanent deal with Chanathip

Japan’s J-League Consadole Sapporo football club wants Thailand’s 24-year-old midfielder Chanathip Songkrasin to remain in the team on a long-term contract.

The Thai has played significant role in helping the team to remain in the J1  football league in this season’s tournament, said Consadole Sapporo coach Shuhei Yomoda.

Chanathip, called by his Thai fans as “Messi Jay”, from SCG Muang Thong United now plays with Hokkaido-based Consadole Sapporo club on a one and a half year loan contract.

Yomoda reportedly admired Chanathip’s impressive performances in several games as well as his skills and talent which had helped the club to survive the demotion in this football season.

The coach said he would like Chanathip to remain with the club on permanent contract.

The Thai football star has now become the centre of interest from several J-League clubs, but the executive board of Consadole Sapporo wanted him to stay with the team and not to shift to other J-League team, the Japanese coach said.

The club is now under talk with his Thai club for permanent contract, he added.

Consadole Sapporo has schedule to play the last match for this season with Sagan Tosu on Dec 2.
