Charter court to rule on CDC’s petition on Wednesday

Constitutional Court judges will on Wednesday begin deliberating the Constitution Drafting Committee’s constitutional amendments to accommodate the result of the referendum on the attached question regarding the selection of the next prime minister by the Senate and the House of Representatives.

Constitutional Court secretary-general Pimon Thampitakwong said that although the documents submitted by the CDC together with the petition for the court’s consideration were complete, the court still needs to judge whether to accept the petition or not before deliberating on the petition and, if the court requires more documents or want to question someone concerned, then it is empowered to do so.

He expected a ruling on Wednesday whether the CDC’s petition would be accepted or not after which the court has 30 days to deliberate the petition.
