CDC is ready to listen to all opinions about non-elected PM

The Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC) is open to opinions from all stakeholders regarding its proposal that each political party nominates five candidates for premiership to the people for acknowledgement, said Mr Apichart Sukhakhanont, the second vice chairman of the CDD.

The proposal remains inconclusive after it was greeted with a lot of criticisms from political parties.

But Mr Peerasak Porchit,  vice president of the National Legislative Assembly, said that the NLA should vote for the prime minister by three-fifths of the votes if the prime minister is an outsider.

He maintained that the premiership is an important issue and the majority of the NLA should be required to approve the person to become prime minister.

Democrat party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva he would like to know the CDC’s rationale behind the proposal for political parties to nominate their candidates for premierhip.

He said political parties could accept the proposal if the CDC makes a clear clarification.
