A double-decker bus from Loei to Rayong skidded off the Ban Na-Kaeng Koi road in Kaeng Koi district of Saraburi province and overturned on the roadside ditch early Tuesday injuring 39 passengers of total 62.

The incident happened at about 1.20 a.m while there was rain in the area. All the injured were admitted to Kaeng Look hospital for treatment.

A security guard of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) was shot while he was safeguarding people attending a concert at Lumpini park Monday night. The guard, Jirayuth Senanarong, was rushed to Chulalongkrn hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. He was shot on the chest.

The gunman was immediately apprehended by other security guards for questions.

A double-deck bus from Bangkok to Trang skidded off the Phetkasem highway and overturned while it was near Kilometre marker 16 in Huay Yod district of Trang province early this morning.

One passenger was killed and 39 others injured, among them a pregnant woman and a 5-year old child. They were admitted to Huey Yod hospital for treatment.

Thirteen Burmese workers were injured when a pickup truck they traveled on ploughed into a ditch and overturned on the Phetkasem highway today.

The workers were traveling from Hua Hin to celebrate Songkran  in Prachuap Khiri Khan. All were admitted to Hua Hin hospital for treatment by charity workers.

Seven heavily-armed drug traffickers were killed in a fierce 30-minute clash with soldiers from the Pamuang Field Force in Mae Fah Luang  district of Chiang Rai province Friday night.

600,000 methamphetamine pills valued over 180 million baht were found on backpacks of six slain traffickers.
The clash broke when soldiers on patrol near the Doi Mae Salong  encountered a drug caravan and order was given to the traffickers to stop for search. They opened fire at soldiers and were retaliated.

Since it was still dark, soldiers radioed for reinforcement to inspect the scene this morning.

Caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and her son have left for Chiang Mai Thursday night for a personal retreat during Songkran holidays. She will be back in Bangkok on Wednesday.

The Corrections Department has proposed the Court of Justices to enforce the use of electronic monitoring bracelets (EM) with probation offenders convicted of drunk-driving charge, beginning from the Songkran water festival.

Probation offenders will be banned from leaving houses during 10.00 p.m. till 04.00 a.m. of the next day.

Three youths, suspected to have connection with the bombings of Yala town last week were arrested this morning.
One of the suspects resembled a motorcyclist who rode on an ice cream motorcycle and parked it in front of a furniture shop on Siroras road and later exploded. Meanwhile, five other suspects were also detained for questioning in connection with the killing of three local village headman and his two female assistants. The militants also beheaded one of the two assistants.

Redshirt leader Kwanchai Praipana has revealed Thaksin Shinawatra will be making a trip to Hong Kong during Songkran.
The chairman of the red-shirt Rak Udon Group in Udon Thani province said the former prime minister will be celebrating Songkran with some Pheu Thai party members there while he will not due to his sickness from wounds.
