Khmer Beverages Ltd, producer of Cambodia Beer, has recently signed an advertising deal with Manchester City FC to advertise its products on advertising boards during the English Premier League club’s matches, according to the Phnom Penh Post Online on Wednesday (Nov 1).
The three-year renewable deal marks one of the first times a Cambodian product will be pitched on the international stage.
Logo of Cambodia Beer will now scroll on the advertising boards for Manchester City’s matches while Cambodia Beer can use the club’s footballers to brand its products, said ImSothearith, director of communications of Khmer Beverages Ltd on Tuesday.
“This is a new trend for people to see Cambodia’s products displayed on the international stage, and will be a source for national pride, said the director, adding “this is the first time ever that a Cambodia brand will be displayed in one of the most-watched sports leagues in the world.”
Senior vice president of partnerships at City Football Group, Damian Willoughby, said in a press statement that the deal marks the first major sports partnership of its kind in Cambodia and further strengthens the club’s presence in Asia.
