A powerful home-made bomb exploded at a fresh market in Yala town early Monday morning, killing three people and injuring at least 18 others.

The bomb attack happened at Phimolchai market in the Yala municipal area on Soi 3 while the market was busy with morning shoppers.

All were later admitted to Yala Regional Hospital.

Spokesman of the Forward Command of the Internal Security Operations Command 4 Col Promote Phrom-in said security forces and EOD police sealed off the roads to the market area shortly after the deadly explosion.

Initial inspection at the scene revealed that the perpetrators might hid a powful bomb inside a motorcycle and parked it near a pork stall at the market.

The explosion might be ignited by alarm clock.
