Benz Racing reports to court to defend charges

Benz Racing, a money laundering suspect with alleged involvement in Laotian drug lord Xaysana Keopimpha syndicate, reported to the Criminal Court today under his conditional release after facing money laundering charge imposed by narcotics suppression police.

The suspect also known as Akkarakit Woraroj-Charoendej, husband of famous celebrity “Pat” Naphapa Tantrakul, reiterated his innocence and no connection with the arrested Laotian drug lord as accused by the narcotic suppression police.

He was escorted with lawyer to the Court after he was earlier granted temporary release with conditions.

After a brief report, he was ordered to report again on May 29.
The Narcotic Suppression Bureau police sought extended detention period of Benz for the seventh time, the final permissable extension, from the Court, today to question him over his involvement in the last Laotian drug lord syndicate.

Benz was earlier slapped with two additional charges – supporting or abetting other offenders and accepting money, valuables, or interests from the offenders for the latter’s benefit.

But Benz said he would defend all charges in the court.

He said he has given full cooperation to the police in the investigation as he was confident of his innocence and had no idea to escape.

The police will submit all investigation report to the prosecutor to prosecute him in the court next week as they could no longer ask for the extension of his detention period for questioning again.
